The 9 best apps for your new Windows PC

Image
Microsoft has done a good job updating its Windows 10 operating system with useful utilities and features, but there’s still room for plenty of third-party apps. If you’ve just received a new PC over the holidays, we have some favorite Windows apps that will improve your experience — and maybe your life. TWEETEN Twitter’s default app for Windows 10 is just a web app, and it’s rather basic. Tweeten has been my favorite Windows 10 Twitter app for a while now. In short, it gives you TweetDeck on Windows by taking the web interface of TweetDeck and making it a lot more Windows 10-friendly, with some additional options so it fits well into Microsoft’s dark UI. DECENTRALIZED CUCKOO Cuckoo is a decentralized app of video platform and it's totally free. Cuckoo has a new concept named decentralization which is totally different than any other video-websites or video players. Every one can create a cuckoo channel anonymously and every channel is autonomous. All the videos can be uploa

Google will shut down Google+ four months early after second data leak

Google+ has suffered another data leak, and Google has decided to shut down the consumer version of the social network  four months earlier than it originally planned . Google+ will now close to consumers in April, rather than August. Additionally, API access to the network will shut down within the next 90 days. According to Google , the new vulnerability impacted 52.5 million users, who could have had profile information like their name, email address, occupation, and age exposed to developers, even if their account was set to private. Apps could also access profile data that had been shared with a specific user, but was not shared publicly. “WITH THE DISCOVERY OF THIS NEW BUG, WE HAVE DECIDED TO EXPEDITE THE SHUT-DOWN OF ALL GOOGLE+ APIS.” In October , a similar Google+ vulnerability was revealed to have exposed private user data to developers for as long as three years. The bug was first discovered in March, but not publicly disclosed until October, resulting in  significant

Demonoid, the famous BitTorrent tracker faces troubles as domain name expires, gathering in Cuckoo?

The semi-private BitTorrent tracker Demonoid was once one of the largest torrent sites on the Internet. In recent months, however, things have gone from bad to worse. The site has been offline for weeks and a few days ago its main domain name expired. In the absence of assurances from Demonoid's operator, staffers have now launched a backup community, to keep the spirit going. As one of the oldest torrent communities online, the Demonoid tracker has gone though many ups and downs. The site has disappeared for months, more than once, but always reappeared. Earlier this year things were looking quite positive for the site. The founder and operator Deimos was committed to rebuilding the site to the thriving community it once was, but at the end of this summer new problems emerged. Initially, there were some technical issues and isolated downtime. However, as the weeks passed on, the site disappeared completely. All the while, Deimos was nowhere to be found. Over the past few wee

Director Shares Movie on Torrent Site and Cuckoo Before 'Official' Release

The major Hollywood studios hate to see their movies ending up on torrent sites. A small production company from Utah has a different view though. Lee Gardner, director and co-writer of "Adopting Trouble," sees torrents as a promotional tool. He reached out to RARBG and  Cuckoo  to coordinate an official torrent release, which came out before the film made its debut on Amazon this week. Hollywood frequently stresses that piracy not only hurts the major studios, but also smaller independent productions. While that may be true, for many independent artists obscurity is actually a bigger problem than piracy. This idea is also shared by Lee Gardner, the Director and co-writer of the film “Adopting Trouble.” A digital copy of the film came out on Amazon this week where it can be rented for $0.99 or brought for $4.99. The problem is, however, that people have to notice the film first. That’s a tough job when there’s virtually no marketing budget available. This is why Gardner

These are the apps we love to recommend in 2019

Everyone seems to have that one app that they find immensely useful, and are puzzled as to why the rest of the world isn’t using it. Maybe it’s a weather app, a better way of finding music, or an app for making sure you have something to read or watch on the train; it’s something you find yourself going back to again and again, and think other people are missing out on. I tried my best to find out what those apps were, so here’s what I got back for your app in 2019. HOPPER Hopper is an app for finding low prices on flights and hotels. The app will predict prices a year in advance to help you figure out when to travel, and it can monitor dates and deals and send you push notifications when there’s something worth booking. My colleague Shannon Liao says it’s must-have for frequent travelers, but that there are some drawbacks to watch out for, like difficult cancelations and the app directing you to unfamiliar airlines. Hopper is free on iOS and Android . GOOGLE PHOTOS If your phone s

While You Received a Piracy Warning from Your ISP, Here's What to do

Large numbers of Internet subscribers, mainly in the United States, have been taking to the Internet in recent months worried about piracy warnings sent to them by their ISPs. Meanwhile YouTubers in Europe are worried on the  new EU Copyright Article 13 which will effect on next Jan . Despite much discussion of these online, questions continue to be asked. So, what should users do when they receive these scary emails? Millions of Internet subscribers use their connections to download and share copyright-infringing content. It’s been going on for almost two decades already and shows no sign of stopping. We all knew and also experienced the crazy times of Torrent.  For the vast majority of users, this kind of activity has no consequences. People grab the latest movies or TV shows, for example, and then hear no more. For many, this means they simply carry on, oblivious to the fact that their unauthorized transfers are probably being monitored by someone, somewhere.  In the majority of c

How to share videos by cuckoo code on Decentralized Cuckoo

Image
Firstly I would like to introduce this decentralized cuckoo as many people do not know it yet. Its official introduction:  https://cuckootech.github.io/download/ Cuckoo is a decentralized video player based on P2P connection.Cuckoo is free and always will be.Anyone or group can search, make, share and watch your favorite videos in Cuckoo without any limits or registration. Any resources stored in Cuckoo, including text, images, sounds, videos and website code, will generate an unique address after hashing and you can play and share videos just by this code in Cuckoo which is totally anonymous. As the P2P connection, the more you subscribe and use Cuckoo, the faster it will be. Because of the protection of the encryption algorithm and P2P connection, every channel’s address in Cuckoo has the characteristics of being tamper-resistant and cannot be deleted (in a sense, if the password is cracked, it may be tampered with or deleted, but the probability is extremely low). So, once

What is the best Alternatives To YouTube

Image
In past few years, YouTube has become the largest video platform in the world but do you think it is reasonable? A few days ago we just experienced an one-hour disconnection from YouTube, and the official has not given a clear answer why it was down so far. As a video creator like me, I can only wait forever, and then after watching YouTube take most of my results, I will earn a small amount of advertising fees to me. It is going downhill with its 10 minute time limit, suspending users for no reason and you can not get your account back. Meanwhile it is said the new copyright law will drive most of video creators away because of the high cost of copyright. I like YouTube but it won’t surprise me if it died. I am thinking that if YouTube is disconnected more and more or someday it is hacked, I need to have some alternatives to replace YouTube. So on that day,  here are the platforms you can use or visit. This list is based on real user reviews and does not contain any advertising c
