Demonoid, the famous BitTorrent tracker faces troubles as domain name expires, gathering in Cuckoo?

The semi-private BitTorrent tracker Demonoid was once one of the largest torrent sites on the Internet. In recent months, however, things have gone from bad to worse. The site has been offline for weeks and a few days ago its main domain name expired. In the absence of assurances from Demonoid's operator, staffers have now launched a backup community, to keep the spirit going. As one of the oldest torrent communities online, the Demonoid tracker has gone though many ups and downs. The site has disappeared for months, more than once, but always reappeared. Earlier this year things were looking quite positive for the site. The founder and operator Deimos was committed to rebuilding the site to the thriving community it once was, but at the end of this summer new problems emerged. Initially, there were some technical issues and isolated downtime. However, as the weeks passed on, the site disappeared completely. All the while, Deimos was nowhere to be found. Whether BitTorrent Traffic is Dead, A Comeback as Cuckoo, flocking to new world of sharing traffic

By Ernesto on Sep 26, 2018 File-sharing traffic, BitTorrent was so popular particular before but it was decreasing a lot and now a new world is making a comeback as a decentralized video player named Cuckoo , totally free and anonymous based on p2p connection. One of the trends that emerged in recent years, is that BitTorrent’s share of total Internet traffic decreased. With the growth of services such as YouTube and Netflix, streaming started to generate massive amounts of bandwidth. As a result, BitTorrent lost a significant chunk of its ‘market share.’ This trend gradually increased, until recently. In some parts of the...

What is the difference between Cuckoo and BitTorrent, why more and more people are using Cuckoo?

Recently I found a software called Cuckoo from some friends. Currently, it is a decentralized video platform which will be free forever. Everything looks like YouTube. Cuckoo initializes and connects to the remote node, and can watch the video smoothly. I am very curious about how this is done. This makes me think of BitTorrent, a classical download protocol. Many people are familiar with BitTorrent. With the help of torrent files, people who downloads the same torrent file form a Swarm. The torrent is a list of content addresses, so there are some problems: · You need to create your own torrent file, which is very troublesome for ordinary people. · You must guarantee the sharing of torrent files · Must specify the metadata of the torrent file · You cannot specify the address by means of content addressing · Cannot control the version of the content Cuckoo is another solution. Cuckoo is different from BitTorrent. BitSwap sharing is not limited to torrent files. All no...
